Uncommon portraits

An unusual exhibition has opened at the Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Agriculture Science and Foresis. It is comprised of photographs of insects magnified a hundred times.

Bionicist known that insects embody all kinds of planets for future inventions for control and communication systems, coating and lubricating material, optical and radar instruments, digging, flying and emphibious mashines. Same of the curious devices evolved by nature are already being utilized in present-day engineering.

The photos on display are the work of researcher Viktor Grebennikov, an amateur artist and photographer, who is opening to the public the astonishing world a microscope sees. A science popularizer, Grebennikov has illustrated many books in the field of entomology.

There are always crowds at the exhibition — schoolchildren and academicians, workers and students. The photographer himself is there to answer questions.

В Сибирском отделении Академии сельскохозяйственных наук и прогнозирования СССР открылась необычная выставка. Он состоит из фотографий насекомых, увеличенных в сто раз.

Бионистам известно, что насекомые воплощают в себе всевозможные планеты для будущих изобретений систем управления и связи, покрытий и смазочных материалов, оптических и радиолокационных приборов, землеройных, летающих и земноводных машин. Те же самые любопытные устройства, созданные природой, уже используются в современной технике.

Представленные фотографии — работа исследователя Виктора Гребенникова, художника-любителя и фотографа, открывающего публике удивительный мир, который видит микроскоп. Популяризатор науки, Гребенников проиллюстрировал множество книг в области энтомологии.

На выставке всегда толпа — школьники и академики, рабочие и студенты. Сам фотограф отвечает на вопросы.
